Shayna’s Village Staff

Karen Duncan, Director of Shayna’s Village & Parenting Ally

Karen Duncan has been a part of the JCC’s Early Childhood Learning Center since 1992. She started as a classroom teacher before moving into a supervisory position. In 2007, she helped renovate and rejuvenate the former parenting center, turning it into Shayna’s Village.

As director of the Village, she is committed to helping parents and their children move through all of the phases of early childhood with dignity and respect, using best practices as the guide.

She finds joy in teaching and creating classes, but one of the best parts of her job is watching lifelong friendships develop in Shayna’s Village classes. Children and parents who meet in Shayna’s Village tend to remain friends for years and then eventually return as new parents and grandparents, keeping the cycle of friendships going. She feels honored to be a witness to those deep-rooted connections.

Karen Duncan was awarded the Harriet Weiss Legacy Award in 2021.

Karen Spector, Senior Director of Education and Engagement

Karen Spector is a recent transplant to the Orlando area, having moved here from New Jersey in the summer of 2022. She has been an educator for over 30 years, both in elementary and Jewish education. Karen most recently worked at Golda Och Academy, a Conservative Jewish day school, for seventeen years as a teacher, director of admissions, and assistant principal.

Her vision for Shayna’s Village, and for the broader JCC community, is to help create a warm and inclusive space for children and families to play and learn, where children will be able to receive a variety of services, parents will be able to engage in workshops and classes, and life-long friendships will be made.

Stefani Rabideaux, Art and Social Media Director of Shayna’s Village

Stefani Rabideaux started as a classroom teacher here at the JCC, before assuming the position of Art Specialist for the Early Childhood Learning Center. She has taught art in early childhood and elementary settings for many years.

Stefani is passionate about the important role art plays in stimulating creativity in young children and their families, and she is very excited to expand the art world in Shayna’s Village. In addition to managing the online presence and documenting the expansion of Shayna’s Village through social media, she continues to create her own work as an artist. Stefani is a talented Disney Wonderground artist and has artwork displayed in galleries around the world. She is excited to bring her passion and expertise to our Shayna’s Village community.
